About CalcForU

CalcForU is a free, multi-language platform that brings together 17 everyday calculators — salary gross-to-net, VAT, dividend tax, savings, mortgage, BMI, age, profit, crypto, unit conversions and more — under a single consistent interface, available in nine languages and tuned for nine European jurisdictions.

The site exists because most online calculators target a single country and a single language. Anyone living, working or running a business across multiple EU markets — expats, cross-border freelancers, accountants serving foreign clients, HR teams handling international payroll — was forced to juggle several mismatched tools, each with its own quirks and varying data quality. CalcForU applies the same data-quality bar (official-source verification, dated rate fingerprints, weekly preflight checks) to every locale and every figure that appears on the site.

Frequently asked questions

Is CalcForU really free? Do I need to sign up?

Yes, every calculator is free with no sign-up, no account, no download, and no usage limit. We do not gate any feature behind a paywall or registration. Operating costs are covered by occasional Google AdSense placements that are clearly labelled and never block the calculator interface.

How accurate are the tax and rate figures?

Each calculator with a country-specific computation (salary gross-to-net, VAT, dividend tax, savings, mortgage) is tied to a structured data file that we cross-check against the official tax authority and central bank for that jurisdiction (e.g. ANAF and BNR for Romania, NAV and MNB for Hungary, AEAT and BdE for Spain, HMRC and Bank of England for the UK). Each entry carries a lastVerified date that surfaces on the page as a coloured chip; if the chip turns amber, the figure is older than 180 days and we have flagged it for re-review.

How often are the rates and brackets updated?

An automated weekly preflight runs every Sunday night and flags anything older than 150 days, any broken official-source link, or any known rate-leak pattern (e.g. a tax cut that has been announced but not yet reflected). When a flag fires, a manual deep audit cross-references at least two or three official state sources and corrects every figure plus every prose mention. Beyond that, any time a country publishes a rate change in its official journal we update within days.

Which countries does CalcForU cover?

Salary, dividend tax, savings, mortgage, rent-vs-buy and salary-negotiation calculators currently model nine jurisdictions: Romania, Hungary, Spain, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Germany, Poland, France, and the Netherlands. The VAT calculator covers all 28 EU states plus the UK with the option to type any custom rate. BMI, sleep, TDEE, exam-score, profit, crypto-profit, unit conversion, date difference, age, and inflation calculators are universal and work in any country.

Does CalcForU work on mobile?

Yes, every calculator is fully responsive and tested on small screens. Touch targets meet the WCAG 2.5.5 minimum, the layout reflows from a single-column form to a side-by-side result panel as the viewport widens, and there is no horizontal scrolling.

What about data privacy?

All calculators run client-side after the page loads, so the inputs you type stay in your browser unless you explicitly use a share link. We do not store any salary, tax, or financial input on our servers. Google Analytics is loaded with Consent Mode v2 defaults set to denied until you accept the cookie banner; the analytics scripts that do load measure aggregate page views only, never individual financial inputs.

Can businesses, accountants, or HR teams use CalcForU?

Yes, the calculators are designed to be useful both for individuals checking their own situation and for small businesses, accountants, freelancers, payroll administrators, and HR teams who need a quick second-opinion estimate. For binding figures (filing a return, drafting a contract, formal payroll) we strongly recommend cross-checking against the relevant national tax authority or a qualified professional, since edge cases and special regimes are not always modelled.

Why was CalcForU built?

Most online calculators target a single country and a single language; expats, cross-border workers, and small businesses operating in multiple EU markets had to juggle several mismatched tools. CalcForU was built to provide one consistent calculator interface across nine European jurisdictions and nine languages, with the same data-quality bar applied to every locale and every figure shown to the user.
